For several years, Sense (previously addressed as innuOS) has had a ‘Sonos Integration’ feature which effectively instructs your Innuos server to set itself up within the Sonos app as a Music Library destination automatically. The benefit of this was to save you manually configuring this process in the Sonos app itself which is what you would normally do when using a NAS or shared folder path.
The stability of this feature is also dependent on the Sonos platform, which changed in May 2024 as part of their app overhaul which included the removal of the Music Library function altogether. It was then later reintroduced in 2024. Consequently, the Sonos integration feature within Sense does not function as intended.
Requirements
- One or more Sonos system devices/speakers connected on the network;
- Innuos server/streamer fully updated to the latest version of Sense 3.x.
- All devices connected on the same network subnet (same IP address range);
To use your Innuos server as a Music Library source, you will need to go through the configuration process within the Sonos app as outlined on the Sonos support site: Use a NAS drive with Sonos
When entering the path of your Innuos server, you can user either its hostname, or its IP address (you can confirm the IP address of your Innuos device within the Sense app on the SYSTEM tab). For example:
//zenmini/music
//192.168.1.2/music
Innuos Systems on Sense 3.2 or Later
If your system is up to date and running Sense 3.2+ then a USERNAME and PASSWORD is required to access the shared folders on your system as per this article – Accessing the Shared Folders on your Innuos System
Username: guest
Password: innuos
Innuos Systems on Sense 3.1 or Earlier
Both the USERNAME and PASSWORD fields can be left empty/blank if your system is running below Sense 3.2.
SONOS S1 Users
Users running older Sonos systems that are unable to update to support S2 may struggle to map their libraries as we no longer support legacy features in SMB1 + NTLM v1.
Workarounds:
- Download and map your Innuos system via the Sonos Desktop App.
- Enable NativeUPnP in Sense, and access your Innuos music library via UPnP In the Sonos app.
- Play to individual Sonos speakers using SenseUPnP as per this guide – Using SenseUPnP
