Accessory Device Guidelines
There are a number of peripheral devices that can work with Innuos systems, including optical drives, SSDs, network devices and more.
This article will outline our recommended specifications for each type of accessory device you might be considering.
Optical Drives
- We recommend using an Optical Drive that ideally uses a mechanism listed on accuraterip.com so that the correct offset value can be configured in Sense.
- Many drives available today will also support DVD and Blu-Ray formats, which is not an issue.
- We otherwise suggest a model from a reputable manufacturer that has good availability in your region.
M2 SSD
Our current generation of streamers allow you to install your own M2 SSD, opening numerous music server functionalities and the ability to store your local music collection.
- The M2 SSD must be NVMe, and not SATA.
- We suggest NAS-grade drives that are designed more for resilience and longevity.
- Bandwidth is system-locked to Gen3, so there is no need to choose highest-speed drive you can find.
- Avoid drives with a large heatsink fitted to it, which may block the cover plate of the Innuos chassis.
SFP Module
Innuos switches with the exception of the Nazaré NET do not come with a SFP transceiver pre-fitted, because the module needs to comply with any existing SFP devices that may already be present on your network.
- We recommend a single-mode module at 1310nm such as the Finisar FTLF1318P3BTL 1000BASE-LX SFP, as this avoids signal dispersion that requires further processing by the receiver.
- If you have no existing Fibre LAN infrastructure, then we recommend a ‘Media Bridge’ which can take Ethernet from your main router and convert it to Fibre over SFP. A device such as the TP-Link MC220L would be suitable.
