Import Music from USB Storage

If you have your Music files/folders already stored on an USB storage drive then you may choose to import them directly and conveniently by connecting the USB storage drive to your Innuos Server.

Any USB storage drives (HDD, SSD or Flash based) formatted with compatible file systems (FAT32, exFAT or NTFS) should be easily read by the Innuos server. Please make sure you are not using any kind of security, encryption or password requirements to access that USB storage drive on a computer – that’s not supported and will render it inaccessible on the Innuos server – in that case please disable them first, using your computer and the appropriate encryption/security software tools.

Importing Music with an USB storage drive

Please avoid using cheap, slow and unreliable USB storage drives which may provide slower performance and maybe even damage or corrupt your Music files. Prefer to use quality and reliable brands. For larger Music libraries please consider choosing faster USB 3.0 performant models for USB storage drives – they will provide you with a much better transfer speed. And peace of mind for any transfer, copy or import or possibly even to be later used as backup storage devices.

1. Please make sure your USB storage drive already contains the music folders or files you wish to import. Then go to the Sense dashboard via my.innuos.com or the Sense app, select SERVER > IMPORT > USB. Choose USB as the source to import from.

2. If you haven’t already connected your USB storage drive to the Innuos server, please connect it now and wait for it to be detected.

For Stream series users, it’s best to use either of the two standard USB A ports, as these run at USB 3.2 Gen 2, while the USB C port runs slightly slower at USB 3.2 Gen 1. However, any USB ports can be used for Backup if needed.
For ZEN MK2/MK3 series, Pulse series, ZEN/ZENith Next-Gen and Statement series, it’s recommended to use one of the USB 3.0 ports for the best performance.
